Ed Alleyne-Johnson Busking Electric Violin in Chester UK - May 2006 Fantastic - This is perhaps the best street performance I have ever witnessed. Reminiscent of Jean Luc Ponte's visceral fusion sound. This is in the city of Chester near Wales. Chester has perhaps the only double decker shopping plaza streets, with a second level up off the street within the buildings, balconies running all the way down the streets. jablesj comments - "They were made by the victorians so that rich people would not get wet while out in the rain." The sound is unaltered from the original and was emancipated at great volume in this old town. Ed uses the looper and pedals to great effect. There are no overdubs. Incredible he commanded this fantastic show all by himself, I stood enraptured with all the hair on my body standing on end, grin stretched wide. You can see where he looked up to see my ebullient smile just before he grins and kicks in the distortion. This has been a tremendous inspiration for me. I had never heard him or heard of him before this performance. Ed is awesome! I got some albums of his from the web since hearing this. I hope I can see him again one day.

  10. Helton Says:
i got that feeling to... i woudld immediately think this man does it for the sheer joy and exhilleration of music and playing the violin, not for the money. although i will say this, its sad that he isnt famous like the popular musicians of today are. If nor famous, he should at least be considered an inspiration. im sure he is held in high regard to those who do get to hear him though
  11. Kibou Says:
    my god.
  12. Guy Says:
i don't hear him use a phaser... A loop pedal is what he uses, and an overdrive/distortion pedal as far as i can tell. Coming from a guitar playah though.
  13. Charlena Says:
    amazing!
  14. Josalyn Says:
Maybe the man thinks a talent as great as his shouldn't be limited to those who can afford the tickets. :d This is the reason I always liked street performers. Most of the time, they seem to do what they do because they truly enjoy what they do.
  15. FYODOR Says:
thats simply amazing.... this man shouldnt be playing for change, he should be performing in front of sold out audiences...... this video should be shown to every apiring musician around the world...... thats complete mastery of the violin and effects pedals. also, that is by far the coolest voilin i have ever seen............
  16. QUIN Says:

  21. GUSTEL Says:
man he loves the phaser lol.
  22. Manfried Says:
I'd like to know more about that... he probably made the body, not the mechanics, but even so, they'd all be made out of silicone and fiberglass (so, not materials you'd typically have lying around.) I wonder if there's a factory where you can make your own?
  23. Azelie Says:
    2:09 lmao
  24. Darcie Says:
He's in Chester every other time I go. I've spoken to him before now, seems like a cool guy. I think he said he built his violin or something like that.
  25. Lundy Says:
    Truely inspiring
